The walker Jonas reaches the small town of Kenoma, in the interior of Brazil. He feels attracted to the girl Tari and hangs around. Craftsman Lineu only has one aim in life: namely to convert an old mill into a perpetuum mobile, a machine that can generate energy without using any fuel. In his Quichotesque quest, Lineu is not just fighting the laws of physics, but also Geronimo, a landowner and miller. Geronimo is equally obsessed by a great aim: to develop the backward town into an affluent community. He is afraid of Lineu's experiments and does everything he can to stop them. Jonas joins Lineu, more fascinated by his perseverence than by hisactivities. While their friendship grows, so do the difficulties that Jonas experiences as he tries to win the heart of Tari. Conflicting interests and desires mean that developments gain momentum. The exotic setting - the wild west of Brazil - and the lively and amazing story make Kenoma a unique film. Eliane Caff: 'The idea of Kenoma grew from the desire to know the reality of these characters who live isolated from modern life. The quest of this man with no access to new technologies came from the assumption, maybe nave, that he is more in tune with what is vital in life.'
